We would like to welcome our newest arrivals to the Camp Arifjan LDS Group. It is our desire to help and assist you in accomplishing your latest mission here, in addition to the mission that Uncle Sam thinks he sent you on. This page of our website has been set up to help get you started in the right direction from the beginning. You may think that your time here will be forever, but that is not the case. If you do not perform your azimuth check up front (and on a consistent basis), you will be disappointed in the lack of things you could have done, especially when you suddenly realize you will be going home soon. Don't let that happen. Act now.

We want you to know that, as representatives of the Lord's Church at Camp Arifjan, we are responsible for setting the example to our fellow soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. In so doing, we will raise the standard so that we may all enjoy the protection and rich blessings of the Savior. Setting a good example will also assist our efforts in missionary work (because of General Order #1, this is about all we can do in the way of Missionary work). But, the vineyard is ripe and ready for harvest if we but set the example. Also, local customs that prohibit the consumption of alcohol (and military regulations that follow and adhere to these rules) are a bonus in maintaining the overall spirituality of Camp Arifjan. This can ease the way and magnify our efforts in sharing our testimonies. Remember, this is God's Army and we are marching on to victory.

Here's a list of things to do to get you started:

1. If you are here for the first time, click here to submit your personal information to the Group Leader. This is so your spouse will receive a letter from Elder Robert C. Oaks.

2. Please view the video "Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled" on DVD. It is a message of peace for Latter-day Saints in Military Service put out by the Chruch. It is an excellent video and we have it here in our LDS group library. We recommend that your family back home also see this video.

3. Click here for information on ordering, marking, and military garments.

4. Let the Group Leadership know if you need scriptures and/or lesson manuals, or anything else.

5. Prepare to give a talk at least once while you are here. Start now in preparation, pondering often on what you want to say. In your prayers, ask Heavenly Father for the Spirit to assist you.

6. Bear your testimony often.

7. Read your Patriarchal Blessing at least twice (if not more) while you are here.

8. Maintain your journal. If you haven't started one or have not written in your journal for sometime, now is the time to start. Right now. This will be a blessing to you and to your posterity to an extent you cannot possibly imagine.

9. And of course, read your scriptures daily. You will feel the presence of God and hear his voice if you will but read your scriptures oft.

Finally, on a more humorous level, here are some notes to assist you in getting to know some of the other members:

If you love working with wood, see Brother Evans. If you don't love working with wood, see Brother Evans. If you don't want to be converted (to the love of working with wood), stay away from Brother Evans.

If you are an RM (or not), and the Spirit of Missionary work is so powerful in your life that you can't sleep nights, see Brother Athens, Brother King, Brother Mitchell, Brother Gallup, and Sister McGiffin (et. al.). Please contact these Brothers and Sister quickly, for the number of non-members here at Camp Arifjan is rapidly diminishing due to their missionary efforts. Where's Waldo?

If you are into brake dancing, checkout the moves of Brother Blair. Dude, he's awesome.

If you're Puerto Rican, then maybe you can help the rest of us understand what Brother Vasquez is saying. Just kidding Rico.

If you live on the wild side, and like the rush of the wind in your face, join Brother Dunn (in his dreams) riding on a Harley. (or should I say, in his time-machine)
